    The Serpent's Trail è un giro tipicamente downhill. Potrebbe anche venire fatto in modalità all-mountain (salendo da Bolognano d'Arco sino al Monte Velo, lungo strada asfaltata oppure la parallela sterrata), ma reputiamo che per goderlo totalmente sia necessaria una mountain bike da freeride o downhill.
    Arrivati al Passo S.Barbara, scarichiamo le nostre pesanti mtb da discesa presso il parcheggio dell'Hotel Genzianella, approfittandone per un caffè e brioches veloci, prima di cominciare ad indossare le nostre armature: gomitiere, ginocchiere e casco integrale.
    La direzione da prendere, una volta scesi dal parcheggio dell'hotel, è la strada pianeggiante che si inoltra tra i campi. Poche centinaia di metri dopo vi troverete davanti ad un bivio: seguite la sterrata a destra, leggermente in discesa. Proseguite per circa 1-2 km, su sentiero comodo, ideale per prendere confidenza con i nostri mezzi. Solamente in alcuni tratti sarà necessario rilanciare l'andatura, ma si tratta veramente di poca cosa, fattibile anche con le pesanti mountain bike da discesa.
    In seguito il nostro sentiero comincia a svilupparsi in tornanti, con pendenza maggiore, anche se rimane comunque molto ampio. Dopo qualche curva ci troveremo di fronte alla vecchia Malga Fiavei: seguiamo la traccia che prosegue nel prato adiacente, e dopo qualche metro ha inizio il divertimento puro!
    Un singletrail molto pendente si incunea prepotentemente all'interno del bosco, senza mai presentare grosse difficoltà tecniche ma mantenendo sempre una certa pendenza che consiglia cautela, soprattutto in caso di fondo scivoloso e umido.
    La traccia da seguire è sempre molto definita e chiara. Ad un certo punto essa si riverserà su una strada forestale: proseguiamo in discesa per poche decine di metri fino a scorgere, nei pressi di un tornante, la nostra traccia che ricomincia tra gli alberi.
    Altri momenti di adrenalina (attenzione ad un passaggio fatto di sassi lisci!) ci attendono, fino a raggiungere una piccola apertura, ideale per distendere le braccia e rifiatare. Alla vostra sinistra si nota facilmente la traccia che prosegue, non esitate e godetevi l'ultima parte di questo fantastico trail.
    Prima di arrivare in fondo, vi troverete al cospetto di un'ulteriore bivio: tenete la destra, attenzione a qualche gradino più alto del normale, e in breve vi ritrovete a pedalare tra la viuzze del paesino di Nago. Da qui in un attimo si scende a Torbole.

    PS: il nome The Serpent's Trail nasce da un curioso aneddoto durante una discesa. Un serpente ci ha attraversato la strada proprio mentre sopraggiungevamo, senza darci possibilità di evitarlo. Inutile dire chi ha avuto la peggio... :-))
